Dice Roller - Help

Main Page

  1. Die Bag - This contains all the dice, groupings, and modifiers that can be added to a roll; this is done by tapping on the desired coin/die/group/modifier.
  2. Coin: - A coin. This can be heads or tails.
  3. d4 - A four-sided die. This can be a value between 1 and 4.
  4. d6 - A six-sided die. This can be a value between 1 and 6.
  5. d8 - An eight-sided die.
  6. d10
  7. d12
  8. d20
  9. % - Percentile dice. Usually represented as two differently colored d10s, this can be a number between 1 and 100.
  10. ? - Random die. You can enter any positive number and it will "roll" a random number between 1 and that number, inclusive, as though it were a real die.
  11. Open Group - Opens a group. If a group is already open, this will be a )(, and will close the current group before opening a new group.
    • When a group is open, all dice and modifiers go into that group.
    • When a group is removed, all of the dice and modifiers in it become ungrouped.
    • If you hold your finger down on a group in the Dice To Roll panel, you can name that group.
  12. Close Group - Close the current group.
  13. Add / Subtract Modifier - Add some number to the total for the current group. The number can be negative.
  14. Dice To Roll - The dice equation will be in here. Tapping on a die, modifier, or group parenthesis will remove it from the dice to roll.
  15. Roll - Tapping this button will roll the dice in the Dice To Roll panel.
  16. Clear - Tapping this button will clear all the dice in the Dice To Roll panel.

Preferences

  1. Show Values - If this is on, the individual die values will be shown.
  2. Show Die Totals - Totals are grouped by die inside each overall group. If this is on, then the total of each individual die is shown.
  3. Show Group Total - If this is on, the total of all dice inside a group is displayed summed up.
  4. Show Total - If this is on, the total of all groups is displayed.
  5. Sounds - If this is on, when the dice are rolled a dice-rolling sound will play.
  6. Explode On - Under this header are a d6, d10, and d20. If the value for these is 0, then exploding is off. Otherwise, if that die rolls equal to or higher than the selected value, that die will be rolled again.
    • Example - If the d10 is set to 8 and I roll 3 d10s, and the results are 3, 8, and 5, then another d10 will automatically be rolled and added to the results. If that d10 is 8 or higher, then it will 'explode' again and a fifth d10 will be rolled.
    • Warning! Because of the continuing nature of explosion and limitations in the number picker, selecting '1' as a value will cause the program to crash. This is being worked on.
  7. Success Mode - Under this header are a d6, d10, and d20. If the value for these is 0, then success mode is off. Otherwise, if that die rolls equal to or higher than the selected value, one success will be counted. Lower and no success will be counted.
    • Example - If the d10 is set to 8 and I roll 5 d10s, and the results are 1 3 5 8 9, then the result (as displayed in die totals, group totals, and total) will be 2 successes instead of 26.
